VIVA Physicians, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the field of vascular medicine and intervention through education and research, has voted Dr. Saher S. Sabri as their newest board member. Dr. Sabri has been a valued partner to VIVA Physicians for several years serving as a VIVA faculty member and has recently received the Vascular Career Advancement Award.
Dr. Sabri graduated from the University of Jordan Faculty of Medicine in 2000. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Iowa in 2007 and a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology from the University of Virginia in 2008. He holds the American Board of Radiology’s Certificate of Added Qualifications in vascular and interventional radiology.
Dr. Sabri previously held a position as an Associate Professor of Radiology and Surgery at the University of Virginia and served as the Vice Chair of Education at the Department of Radiology as well as the radiology residency program director. He is now Director of Interventional Radiology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Professor of Radiology at Georgetown University. Dr. Sabri received several awards including the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence and the Charles J. Tegtmeyer Award of Clinical Excellence at the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia. He is a fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Sabri has clinical and research interest in peripheral arterial disease, aortic interventions, and portal hypertension interventions.
Dr. Sabri will bring these research interests and contributions to the VIVA organization.
